Cavity Fillings and Dental Sealants
At DNA Dental Studio, we use advanced techniques and materials to treat cavities and prevent future decay.
Fillings are essential to secure your tooth with a durable material after removing the decayed portion. While metal fillings were once commonly used, dentists now prefer tooth-colored composite resin to fill cavities.
There are many advantages of tooth-colored restorations. They are used in conditions where a significant amount of the tooth structure has been lost. The resub helps the tooth remain intact and strengthens it. Additionally, the resin used in tooth-colored restorations contains fluoride, which can help prevent decay. The resin wears just like natural teeth and does not require placement at the gum line, which is beneficial for your gums as well.
Sealants are a routine process where a tooth-colored acrylic “coating” is applied onto your tooth surface. This effectively “seals” the grooves, forming a barrier that shields your tooth enamel from plaque and other harmful acids.

Process of Replacing Silver Fillings
- The dentist will remove your old filling, along with any extra decay.
- A tooth impression is taken. A model of your teeth is being created and sent to the laboratory.
- A temporary onlay is then inserted on the tooth.
02.
What Are the Next Steps?
- Your temporary onlay will be removed by the dentist.
- A conditioning gel will be applied to the tooth to prep it for receiving the new onlay.
- Bonding material is applied to the tooth, and with the use of a high-intensity light, it attaches the resin to the tooth.
- The tooth will then be polished.
