Dental Bridges in Burbank, CA

A dental bridge is made by inserting dental crowns on either side of the empty area (missing tooth area) and then connecting them by placing a device in between. That is why it is called a dental bridge. The crowns that replace the missing teeth are suspended between two pillars. The dental crowns placed on the teeth are known as “retainer crowns,” and the crowns that replace missing teeth are known as “pontic crowns.” Depending on the number of missing teeth, your dentist in burbank will usually insert two retainer crowns, one on each side of the empty socket and one or more pontic crowns.

DENTAL BRIDGE OPTIONS

Different types of dental bridges are available in burbank, with some requiring us to remove more tooth structure than others. We offer a variety of bridges to provide you with the best treatment possible. Bridges can now be linked to implants as well. Click here if you want to learn more about implant-retained bridges.

In the past, replacing missing teeth with a bridge (also known as a fixed partial denture in dental terms) was the standard treatment. We don’t do as many bridges as we used to because dental implant procedures provide long-lasting results, have a higher rate of success, and costs the same.

WHAT EXACTLY IS A BRIDGE OR FIXED PARTIAL DENTURE?

A bridge (Fixed Partial Dentures) is a teeth replacement option that can literally bridge the gap where there were supposed to be one or more teeth.  They look great and uses artificial teeth to replace your missing teeth.  Your dental bridges in burbank is usually made up of gold, alloys, porcelain, or a combination of all of these dental materials. They are generally bonded to the adjacent teeth for extra support and stability.

WHY DO I NEED A BRIDGE?

A dental bridge replaces your missing teeth, maintains your facial structure, or helps to lessen stress on your bite.

The foundation (adjacent teeth, gums, or the bone to which it is connected) of a dental bridge is the main thing that determines its’ success. Thus it is essential to keep your remaining teeth and jaws very healthy and strong.

One of the most serious side effects of tooth loss is a higher risk of periodontal disease, which can be reduced with a dental bridge.

HOW IS A BRIDGE ATTACHED?

The attachment process typically requires two or three visits to our dental office. Our doctors Dino or Angie will prepare the adjacent teeth on either side of the empty socket by removal a part of the enamel and dentin.

Since the dental bridge requires proper measurements to ensure correct bite alignment and match the opposite tooth, imprints of the teeth are taken and sent to a dental lab where the bridge will be built.

Fixed bridges are usually secured to the natural teeth adjacent to the missing tooth’s space. The missing tooth is replaced by a pontic tooth (false tooth). Dental crowns that are fixed on to the natural teeth act as a solid source of foundation for the dental bridge.

WHAT MATERIALS ARE USED?

Gold alloys, non-precious alloys, porcelain, or a combination of all of these materials are used to create dental bridges in burbank. Porcelain is usually bonded to both precious or non-precious metals.

HOW DO I TAKE CARE OF MY BRIDGE?

Brushing and flossing on a regular basis will keep the dental bridge and neighboring teeth clean. This is vital because the bridge is supported by the adjacent teeth.
